Round 2 is already upon us, and somehow its already April, time truly flies when you're having fun, and there has been no standing still since round 1 at Silverstone ended.
Going into Brands is a new challenge completely for 2023. A circuit that I last visited when battling for the championship in the Mk1 in 2021. It's safe to assume, I don't have the fondest memories of that weekend. But visiting for the first time is a Supercup car should be extremely exciting!
The shortest circuit on the calendar always throws up a lot of surprises, and with the insane amount of cars on the grid for this season, and overtaking opportunities being fairly limited, qualifying could be the most important session of the weekend.
After the mixed feelings following round 1, Brands Hatch in 2023 promises to be a completely different weekend compared to my last visit. A bad qualifying at Silverstone ultimately set the weekend off on the wrong foot, but the race pace throughout the weekend actually turned out to be promising for the rest of the season. If the weather remains dry, Brands could be the circuit to give us a true idea as to where we stand in the pecking order on pace.
The big issue of the weekend will be traffic (not on the M25 either) as with the lap being so short, and a full entry list, getting clean laps in qualifying will be difficult, as it proved extremely difficult at the longest circuit of the year at Silverstone!
The race weekend adopts the traditional format with 4 Friday practice sessions followed by Qualifying first thing Saturday Morning, and Race 1 just before Lunch on Saturday. Races 2 and 3 are Sunday Morning and Afternoon.
Once again, all of the race action will be live on the BRSCC YouTube channel, with live timing of qualifying and the races on TSL Live Timing via the links below:
See you on the other side...
