Better late than never! Time clearly waits for no one!
Anglesey was already 2 weekends ago, and only now am I getting the opportunity to catch up and reflect on a weekend that turned out to be pretty memorable!
Going into the weekend, everything was up in the air for the 1st time this season as everyone made the change to the Avon tyres, with a lot of curiosity around the paddock as to who would emerge on top after qualifying.... But then the rain came to spoil the party.
After feeling fairly comfortable in the wet conditions at the end of Friday testing, the team and I were feeling pretty confident if the weather was to be difficult on Saturday morning, however, with a few misplaced set up changes I ended up on the 7th row of the grid, and left feeling like I was in for an uphill battle.
The start to race 1 couldn't have got off to a worse start either, being involved in a 1st lap incident dropped me from 14th to 20th after the 1st lap. However, it did allow me to have an extremely fun race charging back through the field on a drying track, and amazingly pinching fastest lap on the last lap of the race, despite battling for position right till the last corner!
For Race 2 amazingly I started higher than I did for race 1 after finishing in 12th place, but thankfully Sunday brought some lovely weather for us to enjoy! Making progress through the field was far tougher this time though, but climbing from 12th to 7th seemed to be a very good result despite some firm defending throughout the race.
Finally for the final race, and 3rd time lucky! Having been consistently quick throughout dry running, I was feeling fairly confident, and with the target set by my team mate Joe Wiggins to get into the top 5, my eyes were definitely looking forwards!
After a slightly sluggish start I dropped one position to 8th by the 2nd corner, but fortunately it put me in a very good position to watch the chaos unfold at the top of the mountain. As Foden and Short had a coming together, the door was left wide open for me to jump up to 4th, and then into the final corner the move on Foden was made to put myself up into 3rd and set myself up for what was in the end a very lonely race to take my 1st A race podium.
The result was a well deserved result for the entire Tucker Motorsport team, with them supporting me ever since my 1st race at Snetterton in 2016, it was a great feeling to be able to move forwards with them.
This weekend we are back to Snetterton as Round 5 of the championship commences.
Would also like to say a huge thank you to EPTA project for coming to support me throughout the Anglesey weekend and clearly bringing me plenty of good luck!
See you at Snetterton!
